Deer Meadow Vacation Home with detached garage

Located only 7 miles from West Yellowstone, the west entrance to Yellowstone National Park, our vacation home built in 2005 sits on a gentle grassy slope ringed by forests and mountains. The Great Room offers a spectacular view of Lionhead Mountain and the surrounding peaks of the Continental Divide.

This 1700 sq. ft. two-story 3 bedroom/2 bathroom vacation rental home sits on a half acre property. It has a deck and patio with lounge and deck chairs, and a detached two-car garage. The surrounding Forest Service lands provide a quiet setting amidst a small and sparse grouping of mostly seasonal homes. The western style interior furnishings are beautifully coordinated and engender a tastefully rustic atmosphere. The cabin sleeps up to 8 people, with two queen-size beds, two twin beds and a queen sleeper sofa. Wireless high speed internet access has been installed - just bring your laptop(s). We don't allow pets. No smoking, please.
Features include forced air heating and air conditioning throughout, laundry room with washer/dryer, satellite TV in two locations with VCR and DVD players, and a CD player. There are a variety of games, video tapes, DVDs and CDs for the use of our guests.

A cozy cabin feeling is created by the knotty pine woodwork on most walls and ceilings, which adds to the mountain charm. The beautiful two-story Great Room has a large wood-burning fireplace with a floor to ceiling rock chimney. The dining table seats 8 people. The kitchen appliances include a dishwasher, electric range/oven, microwave, large refrigerator and all equipment needed for food preparation and dining, including complimentary olive oil as well as herbs and spices. A gas grill is provided on the deck for barbecues. The Elk Room (master bedroom) features a two-person heated whirlpool bath and a shower. The Pine Room (queen bedroom) and the Moose Room (twin bedroom are both located upstairs. The upstairs bathroom features a tub/shower with a sliding glass enclosure. There is extra seating in the loft where the second TV is located.

West Yellowstone's entrance to the Park is the closest to the spectacular Old Faithful geyser, which erupts at regular intervals serveral times daily. You will also have a golden opportunity to view a great assortment of wildlife in their natural habitat.

In addition to Yellowstone National Park you'll want to visit Teton National Park just south of Yellowstone Park. The Lewis and Clark Caverns with their magnificent limestone caves and the historically preserved old-west towns of Virginia and Nevada City are within easy driving range.

West Yellowstone is located in the heart of fly-fishing country. Several of the most fabled streams and rivers in the world are within a five to fifty mile radius of the town, including the Madison River, Gallatin River, Yellowstone River, and Henry's Fork of the Snake River. High quality lake fishing is also available on Yellowstone Lake, Hebgen Lake and Quake Lake as well Henry's Lake and Island Park Reservoir.

Great Fall colors in September

Fall activities:

The fall, with its beautiful foliage, is a great time to visit Yellowstone Park. The energizing cooler temperatures make more strenuous activities  such as hiking a lot more fun. There are fewer visitors in the Park making the experience more intimate and peaceful.

The late fall is also hunting season and West Yellowstone offers a great point of access for successful elk and deer hunting.

Winter activities:

Snowmobiling can be enjoyed both inside and outside of the Park. For snowmobiling inside the park a guide is required. West Yellowstone is called the snowmobiling capital of the world, and close-by Island Park offers additional access to nearly 1,000 miles of groomed trails. The snowmobile trail system is less than a half mile away. You can leave the vacation home on your snowmobile and arrive at the trailhead within minutes and spend a full day on local trails. If you prefer to sit back and relax, a great way to view Yellowstone Park in winter is to make an excursion in a snow coach. It's a lot warmer but equally scenic!

They reopen again from mid December through mid March to oversnow vehicles only - snowmobiles and snow coaches. Snowmobiling outside of Yellowstone park usually gets underway around Thanksgiving.

If you love cross-country skiing, you can enjoy some of the nation's finest cross-country ski trails in West Yellowstone. For example, start at the Rendez-Vous trail system with over 20 miles of groomed trails. For more adventurous trips hire a guide and go on a tour in Gallatin National Forest. Ski rentals are also available in West Yellowstone.

Downhill skiing is available in Big Sky, Montana, 50 miles north.

Dog sledding is an even more adventurous way to travel. If you want, you can learn how to drive your own sled! Half or full day trips are locally available complete with snacks, hot drinks and lunch. Snowshoeing is a great way to enjoy wildlife viewing in the Park. Join a National Park ranger and track wildlife on snowshoes.
